WildHeavy Community Guidelines
WildHeavy is built by eaters, for eaters. These guidelines help us maintain a community where authentic dining experiences are shared, trusted voices are heard, and everyone can discover what to order next.
1. Core Principles
1.1 Eat It to Rank It
Every ranking you submit should reflect a dish you've actually eaten. WildHeavy's value comes from authentic, first-hand experiences. Speculation, hearsay, or rankings based on reputation alone undermine the community.
1.2 Sponsored Meal Disclosure
If your meal was sponsored by the restaurant—whether invited, gifted, or otherwise provided at no cost—you can still rate it fairly. Just be transparent. When creating a Spec Card, toggle on "This meal was sponsored by the restaurant" and a disclosure note will appear on your card.
1.3 Conflict of Interest
If you own, manage, or work for a restaurant, you may rate your own establishment honestly. However, you must not:
- Use your account to negatively target competitors
- Create multiple accounts to inflate your restaurant's rankings
- Coordinate with others to manipulate scores
1.4 Respect the House
When sharing dining experiences, be respectful of restaurant staff, fellow diners, and the establishments themselves:
- Do not share private information about staff members (doxxing)
- Do not encourage illegal activity, trespassing, or health code violations
- Critique the food, not the people
2. Prohibited Content
The following content is strictly prohibited and will result in removal and potential account suspension:
- Hate Speech & Discrimination: Content that promotes hatred, violence, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Violence & Threats: Threats of violence, encouragement of harm, or content that glorifies violent acts against individuals, groups, or establishments.
- Spam & Manipulation: Repetitive posting, bot-generated content, coordinated inauthentic behavior, or any attempt to artificially inflate engagement or rankings.
- Private Information: Sharing personal information about others without consent, including home addresses, phone numbers, financial information, or identity documents.
3. Ranking Integrity
WildHeavy's rankings are designed to surface the best dishes based on real community input. Here's how we maintain integrity:
3.1 What We Do
- Weight Trusted Voices: Rankings from users with demonstrated expertise (Industry Pros, Tastemakers) carry more influence in our scoring algorithm.
- Apply Freshness Signals: Recent experiences are weighted more heavily than older ones to reflect current menu quality.
- Deduplicate Votes: Each user's most recent ranking for a city + category combination counts. You can update your rankings anytime.
- Exclude Deleted Accounts: When an account is deleted, its rankings are removed from active leaderboard calculations (though historical data may be preserved for auditing).
3.2 What We Don't Do
- No Paid Placements: Restaurants cannot pay to appear higher in our rankings. Period.
- No Score Purchases: There is no way for a restaurant to buy a better position. Rankings are earned through community votes.
4. The "Janitor" & Data Hygiene
WildHeavy uses AI-assisted tools we call "The Janitor" to maintain clean, consistent data across the platform.
What The Janitor Does
- Normalizes dish names for consistency (e.g., "Cheeseburger" vs "cheese burger")
- Matches dishes to canonical menu items across restaurants
- Flags ambiguous entries for review
5. Reporting & Enforcement
5.1 Report Violations
If you encounter content that violates these guidelines, use the in-app "Report" button available on rankings, Spec Cards, and user profiles. All reports are reviewed by our team.
5.2 Block Users
You can block any user to prevent them from viewing your content, following you, or appearing in your feed. Manage blocked users in your account settings.
5.3 Review Timeline
We aim to review all reports within 48 hours. Complex cases may take longer. You'll be notified of outcomes when applicable.
5.4 Enforcement Actions
Depending on the severity and frequency of violations, we may take the following actions:
- Content removal
- Warning notification
- Temporary account suspension
- Permanent account termination
